Creating New Characters

Sampson Aspin, Cheese Baron

Your characters can be anything that you'd find in 1976, plus some other, more supernatural possibilities. Some ideas include: police, private investigator (or paranormal investigator), government agent (for a foreign government, if you prefer), car salesman, postal worker, city works employee, professor, librarian, factory worker, small business owner (perhaps selling rare oddities, running a night club, etc.), wealthy person (or a foreign rich guy), artifact collector, archaeologist, biologist (flora or fauna), mad scientist, or representative of the municipal or provincial government.

More surreal aspects of characters may include communication with spirits (being a medium, or having a spirit ally), psychic powers, or being a robot (you will be tied to a large "brain" you must hide somewhere). Any of these abilities requires the "Unusual Background" advantage on top of the other advantages taken.

Woody Gray, Police Inspector

Characters are to be designed with 125 points to start, and up to -100 points of disadvantages. This means that if you take the entire -100 points of disadvantages, you will have 225 total points to work with (see GURPS Lite for an introduction to character creation, but note that there are many more advantages, disadvantages, and skills available).
